The Geometry of Emotion
Beauty springs from simplicity, and the universal emerges from the everyday. The work of Rafa García (Málaga, 1997) stands at the crossroads of minimalism and abstraction. Through a free use of form and a palette of primary colors, his compositions take shape across different materials and textures, echoing the informalist movements of the 20th century.
His pictorial language balances precision and spontaneity, shaped by the influences of Joan Miró, Henri Matisse, and Antonio Saura. The presence of Antoni Tàpies can also be felt in his approach to geometry, surface, and gesture. Rooted in ideas of beauty, presence, and childhood, his work seeks to “create something from nothing, something that provokes deep satisfaction and wonder.”Rafa García’s research extends beyond painting to include materials such as wood and ceramics, allowing his work to converse with volume, architecture, and design. This expanded practice invites the viewer into a dialogue, one that is tactile, optimistic, and profoundly human.
