Poetry in Stillness and Light
Maia Bunge creates a profoundly oneiric universe where memory, nature, and imagination intertwine within a sensitive pictorial language. Her works, often made on handmade paper, emerge from an intimate dialogue between gesture, matter, and silence.
Her practice explores the threshold between figuration and abstraction, a suspended space where recollections, visions, and fragments of dreams coexist. Each composition carries a slow temporality, a soft light, and an inner breath, the quiet rhythm of a world in fragile balance.
Working with ink, watercolor, sanguine, oil pastel, and gold leaf, Maia constructs mental landscapes where forms appear to float, dissolve, or reemerge. Her work evokes the lyricism of Chagall, the sense of harmony and color of Matisse, and the spiritual depth of Gauguin.
Heir to a familial artistic lineage, notably her painter grandfather whose influence remains central to her path, Maia continues a dialogue across generations, between memory and creation, silence and expression.
Born in Buenos Aires and raised in the mountains of Córdoba, she now lives in Spain.
